Gomba, five time record Masaza Cup champions had a terrible start into the 2024 season. On match day one, Gomba fell 0-2 at home to visiting Kyaggwe and lost miserably 0-4 away to Ssingo on match day two.

Five-time record Buganda Masaza Cup winners Gomba will have a new coach on the technical bench coming to match day three against Mawogola this weekend.

Head coach Frank Mulindwa insists he has resigned following a string of push factors at play.

“I have resigned from my role as head coach of Gomba Ssaza after a number of factors” Mulindwa revealed on Wednesday, 10th July 2024.

Mulindwa who skipped the Wednesday training session at Kabulasoke PTC playground cites interference from top officials and uncleared arrears as well as allowances among the push factors for his decision.

The management wing at the record Masaza cup champions have indeed confirmed Mulindwa’s departure.

“We have parted ways with head coach Frank Mulindwa” the team statement noted.

Management also confirmed that Richard Makumbi is the new technical director with Nasib Mukasa as the new head coach whilst William Kyeswa is the first assistant coach.

Prior to his move to Gomba Lions, Mulindwa had served for three successive years at Buweekula Ssaza.

On match day one, Gomba fell 0-2 at home to visiting Kyaggwe and lost miserably 0-4 away to Ssingo on match day two.

Besides Gomba, defending champions Bulemeezi have also two of their first matches, against Buluuli and Kyaggwe.

Match day three of the 2024 Buganda Masaza football tournament will be played on Saturday, 13th and the subsequent day.
