Uganda Women’s National Basketball Team, the Gazelles secured a 71-56 victory against Ireland in a friendly game in Germany on Monday night.
It was Gazelles’ second victory against Ireland after a sweet 82-69 win at the same Arena on Sunday night.
Unlike the first game, this time around, the Gazelles started strong, thus opening an eight-point lead (26-18) at the end of the first quarter.

Goran Lojo’s charges kept their foot on the gas pedal as they extended the lead to 16 points (43-27) at halftime.
Coming from the locker rooms, the Gazelles kept their rhythm ascending, ensuring a 21-point (60-39) lead at the end of the third quarter.
Despite Ireland’s strong fight in the final quarter, the Gazelles held onto a 15-point advantage to secure a well-deserved victory.

The Gazelles captain Jane Asinde was outstanding on the day knotching a double-double as she scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Paige Robinson maintained her excellence on the offense, scoring 23 points as Lydia Babirye also scored in double figures with 10 points.
On the other hand, Claire Melja and Aine O’Connor each scored 11 points for Ireland.
Uganda will continue with their preparations for the FIBA Zone V Afrobasket Qualifiers that are slated for early next year.
