Overview:

The organizing committee for the tournament has put in place a number of prizes ranging from sets of jerseys, a bull, medals, cash prizes, balls to certificates and many more to the exceling teams and individual persons.

 1st Lubwama Cup

Official opening match:

  • Kiwafu Central 0-0 Lugonjo Nakiwogo

The first ever edition of the Stuart Lubwama cup successfully kicked off at Kiwafu playground in Entebbe Division B on Sunday, 20th October 2024.

A big gathering witnessed the official opening match between Kiwafu Central and Lugonjo Nakiwogo with no scores per side.

The tournament will last for about three months with the closing ceremony expected in December 2024.

This match was also graced by Hon. Paul Nsubuga, the member of parliament for Busiro North, Entebbe Municipality Deputy Mayor Charles Kabwwama, local leaders in Entebbe Municipality, National Unity Platform leaders and other politicians.

 Besides the Kiwafu playground, the other venues will be in Kigungu, Bugonga, Katabi Gombolola, Nakiwogo & Works playgrounds (Entebbe Municipality).

This will entail football and netball; and will be held across the entire Entebbe Municipality in the two divisions; A and B.

Playing venues:

Playing venues across the two divisions will be used.

These will include Kiggungu, Kiwafu and Nakiwogo playgrounds in Division B.

Bugonga, Kitubulu and Works playgrounds will be used in Division A.

Format of play:

The Lubwama Cup 2024 will be played in group stages, with each ward forming a group.

Division A will have two groups; Katabi and Central Ward with the best two teams with a majority of points will qualify for the quarter-finals; number 1 of the group, Katabi, will play number 2 in Central Ward, and v.v.

The same will be for division B; with Kiggungu and Kiwafu wards.

“I want to inspire the youth of Entebbe to take up the responsibility of reigniting Entebbe which was the country’s first capital city. One way is by taking up leadership and also develop, discover, and nurture their talents. Football is one of the activities that bring together our people” Stuart Lubwama revealed.

Hon. Nsubuga applauded the Lubwama for the spirit upon which he started the tournament.
