Inaugural Mbarara City Marathon celebrate rich culture and heritage of long horned cattle

Proceeds from the 2025 Mbarara City Marathon will support the needy children in the GaGa Kids Foundation that is found in Kakoba Mbarara City in restoring their dignity for education and health care.

The Gaga Athletics Association Limited has organized the first edition of the Mbarara City Marathon due on Saturday, 29^th March 2025.

This marathon will have the main 42 KM event with the half marathon (21KM), 10 KM and the 5KM fun run.

The official start and finishing point is the Las Vegas Hotel Gardens in Mbarara.

According to Dickens Friday Kaka, the chief executive officer of Gaga Athletics Association Limited, this marathon will lure elite athletes ranging from 1000 – 1500 runners from all walks of life in the East African region in supporting the human race through togetherness with a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) cause of supporting needy children.

Mbarara City marathon is tourism far-fetched celebration in western Uganda, with the biggest culture in Africa of the long-horned cattle in the land of milk and honey. We are running to support the needy children in the GaGa Kids Foundation that is found in Kakoba Mbarara City in restoring their dignity for education and health care.

The Mbarara City Marathon is also aimed at cultivating a community initiate aims to empower local communities to take action against climate change through establishing a network of community led initiatives.

Also, it is intended to promote sustainable practices, climate resilience and environmental stewardship in creating a sports enthusiast, talent identification, tourism and peace through the culture in promoting Uganda as a tourist destination and building the Uganda running community who will not only bring pride to the country but strongly believe themselves.

This Marathon (Mbarara City marathon) will showcase the regions natural beauty, rich culture heritage and hospitality.
