Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly Awards (Best of February 2025)

Uganda Gazelle’s Jane Asinde was rewarded as the best basketballer for the month of February 2025 in the Fortebet Real Stars sports monthly awards.
Asinde was recognized in absentia during the awards event held at held at Lazio restaurant in Kololo, Kampala on Tuesday, 4th March.
To win the accolade, Asinde won over Shillah Lamunu and John Deng Geu.

Asinde was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the FIBA Zone Afro-Basket Qualifiers in Egypt.
She led the Gazelles to a 74-63 victory over Egypt in the final, averaging 18.8 points per game, including 19 points in the final.
Asinde also averaged 10 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game and was her highest score of the qualifiers was 28 points against South Sudan.
Others winners:
Cricket Cranes Juma Miyaji beat off stiff competition from teammates Henry Ssenyondo and Raghav Dhawan to take home the award in Cricket.

The first pace bowler led Uganda to another unbeaten streak in the second round of the just concluded ICC Challenge League B Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Hong Kong.
Miyaji was the standout bowler for the Uganda Cricket Cranes where he also earned the player of the match against Tanzania after taking 6 wickets for 17 runs in 8.1 overs.
The youngster picked up a total of 12 wickets, the most in the tournament from 123 balls.
The 6 came against Tanzania from 17 balls, 4 against Bahrain from 52 balls and 2 against Hong Kong from 54 balls.
“I am excited to have won this award” Miyaji who also earned a plaque and Ug.Shs 500,000 revealed.
“The credit goes to the entire team for the effort well done. Credit is a team sport and I shower the praise to every member on the team” he added.

For football, Lugazi FC talisman Abdul Kalanzi won the accolade; beating off Vipers’ on-form player Allan Okello and Kitara forward Henry Patrick Kaddu.
Kalanzi scored four goals in three games in the month of February, both in the Uganda Premier League and the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
One apiece against Police and Soltilo Bright Stars as well as Calvary (2 goals in the Uganda Cup).
“I am humbled to be here. I thank the organizers of these awards and my fellow teammates plus the coaches” Kalanzi acknowledged.

Meanwhile, former FIFA Referee Fred Mufta was recognized with the life time achievement award.
Mufta is now working with Cavendish University in the marketing department Mufta served the beautiful game for over 2 decades before he retired 15 years ago.
During his active days, he was always very smart and articulate in decision making.
