NEC coach Hussein Mbalangu targets maximum points as his side takes on Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium on Friday in order to keep leaders Vipers in close proximity.
Vipers’ victory over Police on Thursday means they are now six points clear of NEC and so victory is a must for the Bugolobi-based side in Wakiso.
“We need to win and be close to Vipers,” Mbalangu told the media.
In Wakiso Giants, they meet an equally desperate side that is looking for their first win in over fifteen matches.
The Purple Sharks languish in the relegation zone with 13 points, seven adrift of safety positions and were beaten 4-1 in their last outing at Express.
Pressure is mounting on Steven Bengo to deliver victory which could kick-start their survival route.
In the reverse fixture, Wakiso Giants were the better side but wasteful in front of goal and were punished.
The corresponding fixture last season ended in favour of the Purple Sharks.
In the other game on Friday, URA host army side UPDF aiming to bounce back after defeat to Kitara.
