Kenya’s Nikhil Sachania will be competing in Uganda for the first time. And there’s no better rally than the Pearl of Africa Rally to have one’s first Ugandan rally experience.
The Pearl Rally, due this weekend in western Uganda, is the second round event on the Africa Rally Championship.
Sachania, a paraplegic rally driver, will be driving a Ford Fiesta rally3 that has a modified steering system housing the brake, gear shift and accelerator levers.
The KCB Bank-sponsored driver will be competing for top-tier ARC as well as ARC3 category points.
“I am looking forward to experiencing the Ugandan stages for the first time,” he told Kawowo Sports.
“I have heard a lot about Ugandan rallies and I can’t wait to be part of it. I am so grateful to KCB Bank which has made it possible for us to make this trip,” said Sachania.

Sachania is currently fifth on the ARC standings with 26 points. He, however, tops the ARC3 category with 45 points after the first round in Kenya last March.
A top finish from Pearl Rally will determine Sachania ARC journey for the rest of the season.
“Our goal is to place well in the overall ARC and to secure the ARC3 title. Then we plan to do as many events as possible to keep us in contention for the titles,” he said.
The Kenyan will have his longtime co-driver Deep Patel calling the notes.
