St Kagwa Bushenyi upbeat ahead of opening duel against Lira Town College | 2025 USSSA Boys’ Football

As the 2025 USSSA Boys’ Football U-20 championship kicks off on Tuesday afternoon in Ngora district, there are high expectations from the respective teams in the mix.

With every part of the country represented at this prestigious championship, the Ankole Zone champions St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School are out to write history.

Pitted in Group F, St. Kagwa Bushenyi face Northern Uganda’s Lira Town College at the Ngora Girls Secondary School in one of the 2 PM games lined up.

Star players as captain January Aguma, Iran Musinguzi, Darious Nyesiga, goalkeeper Jordan Rutunganye and others are all part of head coach Isaac Kabaseke’s plans to unlock the mean Lira Town College defence.

“We travelled well from Bushenyi through Kampala to Ngora. The players have rested enough and ready for the battle in the first match and the rest of the games,” Asheri Ajuna, the games master, remarks.

Group F also has Panyadoli SS and Kampala zone champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.

Other Matchday 1 Fixtures:

Defending champions St Julian High School face Rwenzori region’s Garama SS from Kasese at BKC Demo Primary School Playground in Group A.

In Group C, Kichwamba High School will lock horns against Standard High School Zzana at the Ngora High School 2 playground.

Kayunga district’s Namagabi SS faces Bishop Angero Ngeri at Ngora Boys Primary School playground in Group D.

Mt Zion High School and Lubiri SS face off at Apama Primary School in Group E.

Nyamitanga Secondary School and Jinja Comprehensive play at St Aloysius PTC 1 in Group G.

Nabumali High School play Masaka’s Wagwa High School at Ngora High School 1 whilst Notre Dame Hogh School wil play Bugisu High School at St Aloysius PTC 2.

4 PM:

Kampala zone representatives Kibuli SS, a pre-tournament favourite, will kick start their campaign at 4 PM against Wakiso district opposition GreenLight Islamic at the Ngora High School playground in Group O.

In Group J, Chemwania High School play Busia SS at Ngora Boys Primary School, Wisdow High entertains MUMSA High School in Group K at Apama Primary School.

In Group L, Mwoyo Star High School take on St. Lawrence High School Crown City whilst Fort Portal SS will play Masaka SS at Ngora Girls Secondary School.

For Group N, Arengesiep SS open their campaign against Devine College at the St Aloysius PTC 1 playground.

The championship will climax by 15^th May 2025, hosted by Ngora High School.

This tournament has been played since 1986, when it kicked off at the UTV Cup and has provided a viable platform to showcase talented footballers.
