Overview:

Second placed NEC were the only side to give Vipers a chase with champions Villa, giants KCCA and Express as well as seasoned competitors URA falling off the race early in the campaign.

Vipers SC will on Saturday be crowned the champions of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2024/25 as it concludes.

The Venoms claimed the title last week after beating Kitara 2-0 in Hoima for a seventh league title that takes their tally to same number as Express FC and now in joint 3rd behind KCCA (13) and record winners SC Villa (17).

Few will hold a grudge with the Vipers ending the season as winners as most other opponents have lacked the consistency to put up a challenge.

Second placed NEC were the only side to give Vipers a chase with champions Villa, giants KCCA and Express as well as seasoned competitors URA falling off the race early in the campaign.

BUL the only side yet to lose a game in the second round and the side that collected the most points in that period had a false start to the season.

Fred Muhumuza and John Ayala Luyinda put up a competitive side led by the experienced heads in Milton Karisa, Hilary Mukundane, the returning Nicholas Wadada, goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza, Siraje Sentamu and Paul Mbowa.

But it was the rejuvenation of Allan Okello and the ‘silent machine’ in Karim Watambala that have led from the front with the former leading the charts with 18 goals going into the final game.

Meanwhile, as they take Soltilo Bright Stars, a side already relegated but with the ability to spoil the party, eyes will be on the May 31 Stanbic Uganda Cup final against KCCA at the new Fufa Kadiba stadium with a second double lurking.

In other conclusive matches on Saturday, KCCA visit traditional rivals Express at Nakivubo, Villa are away to Lugazi, NEC host URA while Kitara are in Mbale to face Mbale Heroes.

Elsewhere, BUL visit UPDF at Bombo while Wakiso Giants end their five-year time in the premier league with a home duel against Police FC.
