The Ugandan leg of the 2025 NCBA Golf Series will tee off on Saturday, June 14 at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante.

The regional series, in its fourth year, has just completed its launch in Kenya and is in Uganda before it proceeds to Rwanda in the coming months.

The series that launched this week at the Uganda Golf Club is anticipated to be quite competitive. The Ugandan leg will have action at three venues, including Uganda Golf Club, Jinja Golf Club and Entebbe Golf Club. These locations will host a growing field of elite and up-and-coming golfers competing for a coveted place in the series’ grand finale slated for November.

The overall winners of each stop will earn a spot in the grand finale to represent Uganda in the final in Nairobi in November.

For this year’s series, about 230 amateur golfers will be participating across the three match days in a stableford format of play.

“Amateur golfers are the ordinary golfers; they are not to be confused with pros. The NCBA series is strictly for amateur golfers,” the captain of the Uganda Golf Club, Charles Rukundo, explains.

“This tournament is not just an event on the calendar, it’s a celebration of the growth of the sport in Uganda, the growth of golf tourism within the country, and I would like to ask all of you to be able to show up to participate come.

“We invite all golfers from across the country to come and join us here. As the club, we shall host this opening leg and we are proud to set the standard of excellence when it comes to course conditions, organisation, hospitality, name it,” added Rukundo.

Mark Muyobo

Mark Muyobo, the Chief Executive Officer of NCBA Uganda, said the series is more than just a celebration of sport.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome you all to the launch of yet another NCBA Uganda series 2025 and this is not only a celebration of the sport, but it also funds our shared commitment to the Community and sports development in the country.

“We began the 2025 series or season with an electrifying start in Nairobi and we are thrilled that the momentum is coming to Uganda; a country that has consistently demonstrated a passion for the sport. Over the coming weeks, we will be happy to see the country’s best golfers and rising stars battle it out on some of Ugandan’s most iconic and scenery golf courses for a spot in the grand finale in November, where the best across the region in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda will compete for the ultimate glory

“Uganda achieved a milestone by sending the largest contingent of 6 golfers to the Grand finale in Nairobi last year. The 6 had outstanding performances that showed us that Uganda is fast becoming a force to reckon with in the East African coast, even more inspiring was the performance of Peter Tumusiime who previously clinched the gross title in the final and Peace Kabasweka, who won the ladies’ Longest Drive award.”

The NCBA Golf series aims to build golf talent from the amateurs to the professional side; investing in human potential in the region, where young talent is devoured and is discovered, nurtured and celebrated; from the kids series through to the amateur series. It has its footprint on 20 courses across four countries—Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda—drawing an ever-increasing pool of regional talent and elevating the status of golf in East Africa.

The first leg of the Ugandan series 2025 will tee off at 7:00 am on Saturday, 14 June at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante.
