Sommet secured a well-deserved 90-87 victory against City Oilers in the National Basketball League at Lugogo Indoor Arena at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
John Focus Teko’s layup concluded the first period as Sommet opened an 11-point (29-18) lead.
However, City Oilers responded emphatically, limiting damage as they trailed by five points (44-39) going into the halftime break.
Joseph Chuma’s long shot concluded the third period as the City Oilers trailed by four points (65-61).
Fataki Nyembo was perfect on the line to level the game (78-78) at the end of the fourth quarter, thus sending the game to overtime.
Sommet held on in the final five minutes to seal a three-point (90-87) victory.
Nyembo staged an outstanding performance, scoring a game-high of 37 points and pulling down 16 rebounds in a huge double-double.
Kasereka Tembo (17 points) and Peter Cheng (15 points) also contributed for Sommet in double digits.
On the other hand, Joseph Chuma was City Oilers’ best player on the day, scoring 20 points and pulling down 15 rebounds in a double-double performance.
