Uganda Cranes defender Elio Capradossi has joined Romania’s top-tier club, FC Universitatea Cluj.

The 29-year-old joins from Italian Serie B side, AS Cittadella.

Originally from Uganda, but moved to Italy, Elio Capradossi started football at the youth level of AS Roma.

Capradossi made his debut in the U19 group of the “Giallorossi” in the 2012-2013 season, and in the following competitive year, he managed to make 14 appearances and even score four times.

His performances brought him the chance to play two more seasons for AS Roma U19, during which he made 41 appearances for the “Romanians”, culminating in the title of champion at the “Primavera” in the 2015-2016 season, following a final against Juventus, in which Capradossi wore the captain’s armband.

Since 2011, Capradossi has played for all the junior representatives of Italy.

First, he made five appearances at the U16 level, then, under the same coach, Daniele Zoratto, he played 21 matches for Italy U17, respectively eight games for the U18 national team.

He continued with eight appearances at the U19, seven at the U20 and four at the U21.

Capradossi is now featuring for the Uganda national senior team, the Cranes, where he has played seven games so far, the most recent being a friendly against Cameroon (0-3), played at the beginning of June 2025.
