Former Sports Club Villa player Hajji Farouq Meywa, 43, has openly expressed interest in the club presidency.

Meywa now the chief executive officer of East Metal Plus Co.Ltd (handling minerals and other multi-sectoral businesses) eyes restoration of the club’s rich legacy.

He officially declared the candidature during a press conference at Sojovalo Hotel in Kampala on Wednesday, 2nd July 2025.

I humbly present my candidacy for the presidency of SC Villa with the sole purpose of restoring the club’s rich legacy, igniting fresh energy, and implementing systems that produce consistent success both on and off the pitch. Sports Club Villa must rise again. With structural leadership, a vision for the future, and deep roots in community values. I commit to bringing excellence, unity and pride back to the Villa faithful.

Rich manifesto:

Meywa’s manifesto is embedded along the core values of integrity, excellence, inclusivity, accountability and innovation.

He cites strategic objectives as modernizing infrastructure, expanding sports disciplines, strengthening governance, youth development, fan reconnection and club finance as well as sustainability.

Meywa front the right sports nutrition to boost players’ dietary means, sports coaching, women’s football, handball and netball to expand horizons, 5 year club development plan as the blueprint, increased fan base, increment in club funding and resource mobilization, national alignment (working with Government programs as Parish development model, presidential skilling hubs, national development plan III and school sports revitalization program (SSRP).

Sports Club Villa has specific strong pillars as the rich history legacy, loyal fan base and a proven youth talent system.

According to Meywa, he intends to build upon opportunities like the Government and donor support, diaspora investment and women’s sports.

Meywa has a long history with helping the Sports Club Villa family and football people in general.

He rose to prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic era when he donated food and other household needs to players, coaches and other officials.

Sports Club Villa has the record number of titles (17) in the Uganda Premier League.

Christened as “The Jogoos”, the club has won nine Uganda Cup titles and three CECAFA club trophies.
