The Uganda Women’s Basketball Team, Gazelles, has started their preparations with a training session at the Africa Bible Institute in Lubowa.
The Gazelles are gearing up for the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Tournament, which is scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 3 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The first training session was led by head coach Nicholas Natuhereza and assistant coach Ben Komakech, although only six players attended.

“Day one is in the books. We had a brief session, and since it was the first day, we did not want to overdo it,” he said.
“I am pleased with what I observed today. We worked on some concepts that we will build on tomorrow.”
Looking ahead, Natuhereza emphasized the need for improvement to address the challenges faced in the previous AfroBasket edition.
“We have been anticipating this tournament approaching. I believe we are mentally prepared for the practice. Our goal is to develop players who can make free throws and shoot effectively,” he concluded.
