United Arab Emirates’ based Kirabo Aribariho Kemigisha (100M & 200M), Felister Chepkwemoi (1500M), Brenda Chepkwemoi (800M), Nancy Chepkwurui (3000M), Keren Chelimo (3000M), Bentalin Yeko (3000M and 5000M), Keziah Chebet (3000M and 5000M), Isella Chebet (3000M), Charity Cherop (5000M), Risper Cherop (5000M) and Mary Awat (200M and 400M) are the female athletes on the team. The male team is composed of Samuel Simba Cherop (1000M), David Berkham Otim (long jump), Earnest Wananda (400M), Jaffer Fadil Krube (800M and 1500M), Hosea Chemutai (5000M), Victor Cherotich (5000M), Dan Kipyeko (3000M) and Sande Jacob (800M and 1500M).

Uganda Athletics has presented a strong team of youth and junior athletes to take part in the upcoming 4th edition of the CAA Africa U-18 and U-20 championships.

This championship will be held in Abeokuta city, Nigeria (16th to 16th July 2025).

Dominic Otuchet, the president of the Uganda athletics body has high expectations in the team that will be traveling to Nigeria on Monday, 14th July 2025 aboard Uganda Airlines.

Our team of juniors is ready to compete, and I have high expectations in the team. Destiny of Uganda athletics is resident in the young athletes. We shall be fighting for medals as the athletes will eye improving personal records and qualification for more international championships.

Otuchet also lauds the Government of Uganda, key stakeholders who have funded the team travel, the athletes and the parents, coaches, media and everyone who has had a special role therein for the team’s preparations.

Uganda will send a delegation of 26 people; 19 athletes (8 male and 11 female) as well as 7 officials.

The athletes who will face the continent’s best in the youth and junior clusters.

Female athletes:

 “I feel amazed and great to be part of the team. I want to improve upon my personal best by showing my hard work and talent” 17-year-old Kemigisha remarked.

The male team is composed of Samuel Simba Cherop (1000M), David Berkham Otim (long jump), Earnest Wananda (400M), Jaffer Fadil Krube (800M and 1500M), Hosea Chemutai (5000M), Victor Cherotich (5000M), Dan Kipyeko (3000M) and Sande Jacob (800M and 1500M).

Officials:

Beatrice Ayikoru will travel as head of delegation. Otucet is team manager whilst Charles Mugoya is the National Council of Sports (NCS) representative.

There are four coaches; Sam Egama Adrapi, Ziana Cheptoyek, Issa Philemon Kosgei and Quinto Oding.

The top performers at this event in Nigeria will be eyeing the 2026 world U-20 championships in Tokyo, Japan.
