The Uganda Rugby 7s captain, Peace Lekuru, has continued her fine form in the Betfred Women’s Super League with York Valkyrie RLFC.
The Valkyrie have won 6 of their 8 games so far this season, and peace has been a part of the last victories against the Leigh Leopards, when she made her debut, and a hat-trick in the second game against the Barrow Raiders Ladies.
In a post-match interview after her debut, the Valkyrie Director of Rugby only had praises for Lekuru.
“She’s never played on the wing and she’s only played a few games of Rugby League, but I thought Peace [Lekuru] on the wing was really good. She carried hard, she carried strongly and I thought she was a really big asset,” remarked Lindsay Anfield after Valkyrie’s 28:04 victory over the Leigh Leopards.
In her second game, Peace Lekuru scored a second-half hat-trick of tries in the 45th, 62nd and 74th minutes to secure her team’s 58-00 thrashing of the Barrow Ladies.
The 3rd placed Valkyrie host the 5th placed Huddersfield Giants this Sunday, 27th July, at the York Community Stadium in England.
