Uganda Cranes fans shifted the ire of losing 3-0 to Algeria on Monday to supporting South Africa on Friday evening at Namboole for an understandable reason – vengeance.
The Algeria-South Africa fixture was the third on Group C of the 2024 Total Energies African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ugandan fans were left distraught earlier in the week after their team’s opening group loss. But many admitted that Uganda and Algeria are at different levels.
“Uganda should learn from the Bafana how to stop teams that press and how to erode that Magreb fear,” said a fan attending the Group C fixture on Friday.
“I found myself supporting South Africa because they are blacks like us. Those Arabs detest us. But that will all change in our last game when the Cranes face them (South Africa),” revealed another fan.
With the draw, Algeria now tops Group C with four points while South Africa registered their first point.
Co-hosts Uganda are placed in Group C with South Africa, Algeria, Guinea and Niger.
Uganda, desperate to pick points, faces Guinea in another Group C.
A victory for Uganda is very crucial to awaken their chances of going through the quarter finals.

This is what we call revenge, Algeria is now inferior 😂
