Nigeria maintained their top spot as the best ranked women’s national football team in Africa according to the latest rankings released by FIFA.

The periodical rankings released on Thursday shows the recently crowned Women’s African Cup of Nations Champions garnered a total of 1630 points and occupy 36th spot in the entire world.

Nigeria edged Morocco last month in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to take their record to ten titles.

South Africa comes second in Africa but are ranked 54th in the world rankings. Morocco (64th), Zambia (65th) and Cameroon (66th) complete the top ranked African teams in that order.

Uganda’s Crested Cranes improved by one place, moving to 147th position with 1036 points and 29th in Africa.

Despite England defeating Spain in the Women European Championship, the latter maintain their top spot in the world rankings.

Spain in closely followed by USA, Sweden in third, England comes fourth while Germany occupies fifth spot.

France, Brazil, Japan, Canada and Korea Democratic Republic complete the top ten in that order.
