Uganda DanceSport members entertain guests during the official opening of the 2025 FEASSA Games at Bukhungu stadium Kakamega county on Friday, 15th August 2025

Overview:

Soccer, volleyball, handball, basketball, netball, rugby, hockey, athletics, table tennis, badminton, tennis, swimming, goalball (SNE games), chess, scrabble, beach volleyball, beach soccer, lacrosse, dancesport and cricket are all being competed for at the 2025 FEASSA Games.

The 22nd edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Association (FEASSA) games is currently happening in Kakamega county, Western Kenya.

The official opening ceremony was held at the Bukhungu international stadium on the afternoon of Friday, 15th August 2025 before thousands of spectators.

Before the ceremony that was decimated by a procession of all the participating countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Ivory Coast), there was a match between Uganda’s Budo SS and Butere SS (Kenya) which ended 1-all.

The Uganda DanceSport crew entertained the guests and spectators with a curtail of dances much to their delight.

The spectators loved the popping, unique acrobatic, rhythmic, showsdance and others.

DanceSport, an Olympic sport is making a grand entry to the already enticing catalogue of games with a demonstration at the 22nd edition.

Dr. Julius Migos Ogamba, the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education in Kenya represented the president H.E William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto at the grand opening.

“The FEASSA Games foster a spirit of unity and amplify the power of the youth. There is regional integration through the shared values. We welcome you all to Kakamega. Have a memorable experience” Dr Migos spoke.

FEASSA president Justus Mugisha was overwhelmed by the impressive turn up of students and the increasing number of games.

In particular, Mugisha warmly welcomed Ivory Coast to the FEASSA family and the hinted about the new games as Cricket, DanceSport, Lacrosse and Beach Volleyball which have been added.

Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA), the host of the games this year alongside Kakamega county welcomed all the guests.

Ayub Savula, the deputy Governor  represented the Governor of Kakamega county government Dr. Fernandes Barasa who could not attend the event because of unforeseen circumstances.

Rich menu of games:

There are a wide range of games at the FEASSA now.

These include; Soccer, volleyball, handball, basketball, netball, rugby, hockey, athletics, table tennis, badminton, tennis, swimming, goalball (SNE games), chess, scrabble, beach volleyball, beach soccer, lacrosse, dancesport and cricket.

DanceSport and Cricket are for demonstration this year.

The games continue on Saturday, 16th August 2025 through to next week at the different venues in Kakamega county.
