Uganda Cranes midfielder Abdul Karim Watambala emphasises unity and teamwork as they play the final group game.
Uganda Cranes take on South Africa in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Monday.
Speaking in a press briefing, Watambala called upon everyone to have a role so that they can take down South Africa in unity.
“I thank my fellow players for the work done. As a team, we have worked together from the start and to continue with the same spirit,” he noted.
“The boys are in good shape and aren’t willing to disappoint the fans. We’re all prepared and just waiting for the game,” he added.
On the team’s mentality, Watambala stressed the hunger to achieve it in front of the home crowd.
“We thank the fans who have given us full support in our games, right from our first match when we disappointed them against Algeria.”
“Hopefully we gave them the happiness they deserve in our last two games. We call upon them to come in large numbers as we play our last game.”
“We had a setback in our first game but learned from our mistakes. We don’t want to disappoint the coaches and everyone who believes in us,” he concluded.
The Cranes led group C with six points from three games. A draw against South Africa will seal qualification while a victory would ensure group summit.
