SC Villa are winners of the 2025 FUFA Super 8 after spectacularly lifting the title.
SC Villa secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory against NEC in the FUFA Super 8 final at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba on Wednesday.
Ibrahim Kasinde and Reagan Mpande were on the score sheet as SC Villa smartly cruised past NEC FC.
The Jogoos dominated the game from the opening minute and were aggressive throughout, thus winning most of the duels and limiting NEC’s attacking arsenal.
Najib Yiga tested Hannington Ssebwalunyo’s gloves but the custodian responded perfectly by palming away the strong effort.
At the stroke of halftime, Kasinde broke the deadlock with a powerful effort, leaving the goalkeeper Ssebwalunyo flat-footed.
Once again, Najib came close to finding the back of the net in the 72nd minute, but Ssebwalunyo made a full-stretch save, finger-tipping the effort away.
Mpande doubled SC Villa’s lead with a simple but brilliant touch to direct David Owori’s free kick into the back of the net.
SC Villa’s victory sets a positive tone ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.
However, NEC have to forget the loss quickly and regroup ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup Qualifiers against Nairobi Stars on Saturday.
