Algeria booked their slot at next year’s FIFA World Cup after securing a convincing win over minnows Somalia in the penultimate round of the Africa Qualifiers.
The Desert Foxes earned a 3-0 win against Somalia in the game played at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium. Mohammed Amoura bagged a brace while captain Riyad Mahrez added another to guide Algeria to victory.
Algeria came into Thursday’s game on 19 points and needed just a victory from their remaining two games to secure a ticket to the World Cup.
Indeed, they got it against Somalia to secure their fifth appearance at the World Cup. Algeria has been to the World Cup in 1982, 1986, 2010 and 2014 when they reached the round of 16.
Algeria will end their qualification campaign with a home fixture against Uganda on Tuesday, 14th October 2025.
