Ronald Ssebuguzi

The national rally championship returns to Northern Uganda for the penultimate round.

27 crews are anticipated to start the event this Friday; bringing their season targets to a near close with one more round to go.

In the top tier, Ronald Sebuguzi currently leads the championship; but only ahead by six points over Ponsiano Lwakataka.

Sebuguzi’s consistency has seen him pick important points through the season. However, Lwakataka has been on a full charge this season; winning four rounds and continues to breathe down Sebuguzi’s neck in the title fight.

Musa Ssegaabwe who is currently third; 33.5points behind Sebuguzi will be keeping close to the two crews in hope of a chance to nip them with the final round in November.

In the clubman rally championship, Walter Kakande, Ahmed Kateete and Kevin Bebeto are in the fight for maximum points that will place them in better position ahead of the season finale.

In the Two-wheel drive category, only two points separate Mansoor Lubega and Julius Semambo.

The Gulu rally, is dubbed Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial rally as the fraternity remembers the life of former driver Rajiv Ruparelia. Rajiv lost his life in a car crash in May this year.
