For their second Safari 7s win, the Lady Cranes obliterated Tunisia Rugby at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The winning margin could have been larger, but the Cranes were wasteful with their first three conversions in front of the poles, in addition to conceding two needless tries.
A brilliant first-half brace from Suzan Adong and a Lydia Namabiro solo effort put the Ugandans ahead at the break, but it was the suspect kicking that put pressure on the cranes. All three tries were unconverted, despite being scored between the posts.
The kicking came into question at the first restart. The ball failed to go the requisite 10 meters, handing unfettered possession to the Tunisians to coin an attack of their own. This directly led to a converted try for Tunisia.
In the second half, Tina Akello was introduced and this changed everything. Her first major contribution to the game was converting Grace Nabaggala’s try. Next, Akello converted Fazira Namukwaya’s try, then dazzled the defence, before laying the ball off to Comfort Anganyika to score in the corner.
This 34-12 victory was the second win for the Lady Cranes.
