Overview:
The quarter two funding is a breather at a time Government is racing against time to complete several stadia for the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament that will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The Ministry of Finance has released Ug. Shs 18.43 trillion for quarter two of this financial year (2025/2026).
This will cater for the expenditures, with the largest portion allocated to payment of salaries, wages and financing of road projects.
Patrick Ocailap, the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury made the release that also has the sports docket inclusive.
The National Council of Sports (NCS) has been allocated Ug. Shs 236.77 billion whilst the Ministry of Education and Sports has Ug. Shs 172.21 billion.

Mandela National Stadium, Hoima International Stadium and Akii Bua stadium are all ear-marked to be used for the 2027 AFCON.



Training grounds at Namboole, Kyambogo, FUFA Kadiba, Muteesa II Wankulukuku, Hoima and Lira will also be fully furnished.
The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board has Ug. Shs 3.06 billion.
The Government passed a budget of Ug. Shs 72.3 trillion for this financial year. Of this, Ug. Shs 20.18 trillion was released in the first quarter.
With the Ug. Shs 18.43 trillion for quarter two, the total funds released so far amount to Ug. Shs 38.61 trillion.
The other sectors for quarter two release include debt and treasury operations (Ug. Shs 7.07 trillion), wages and salaries (Ug. Shs 2.132 trillion), Ministry of Works and Transport (Ug. Shs 1.7 trillion), Ministry of Defense (Ug. Shs 642.85 billion), Ministry of Health (Ug. Shs 471 billion), office of the president (Ug. Shs 114.13 billion), Parliament (Ug. Shs 223.64 billion), Electoral Commission (Ug. Shs 52.71 billion), KCCA and Metropolitan Affairs (Ug. Shs 292 billion), among others.
