Kawempe Muslim Ladies ascended to the summit of the table in the FUFA Women Super League after overcoming Uganda Martyrs Lubaga on Saturday.

In the game played at St. Gerald’s Stadium, the Warriors secured a hard-fought 1-0 win thanks to Jovia Nakagolo’s second-half strike.

The lone goal of the game came five minutes after the break with Nakagolo firing beyond goalkeeper Joan Namusisi.

Before that, Kawempe had looked the better side in the first half with Latifa Nakasi who was facing her former team and Agnes Nabukenya getting close.

However, after recess, the hosts piled pressure in pursuit of an equalizer but lacked effectiveness.

Nusurah Nakintu had the best chance for Uganda Martyrs midway through the second half but her strike from distance glanced off the crossbar.

Victory takes Kawempe Muslim top of the table on ten points, three ahead Kampala Queens and She Corporate who play Asubo Ladies and Amus College respectively tomorrow.

In the other games played on Saturday, Olila High School and Rines SS WFC played out a goalless draw, while St. Noa and Makerere University ended in a two-all draw.
