For the second circuit running, Victoria University has lifted the University 7s circuit title.

Victoria won the first circuit hosted by Makerere University at the Graveyard, then went home to Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, where they hosted and won, once again.

In the final, Victoria once again faced Uganda Martyrs University, coming out victorious but not unscathed. The winning margin for Victoria University has reduced, from winning 14 – 05 at Makerere to now winning 21 – 19 at Kyadondo.

Tries from Dan Katerega, Blaise Ochieng and Stuart Mwayi put Victoria Sharks in a favourable position, but it was the conversions from Katerega and Mwayi that sealed the win for the Kampala side.

Uganda Martyrs University, on the other hand, had tries from Moses Ali, Eku Emmanuel and Peter Sekabira but only two of the tries were converted.

Both sides are stacked with quality players, with UMU having the services of Rhinos’ twins, Arnold Ocen and Arthur Opio, while VU has turned to Daniel Otim and Humphrey Ndahura for success.

Victoria University now only needs a finish in the final to secure the 2025 University 7s title, a trophy they have won for the last two seasons.

Teams like Uganda Christian University, Kyambogo University and Makerere University have underperformed in this year’s series, with Makerere only managing a 7th-place finish.

The final circuit of the series shall be played at Makerere Rugby Grounds this Sunday to determine the winner of the University 7s.
