KCCA have returned to the top of the Uganda Premier League in the ongoing 2025/26 campaign.
KCCA secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Mbarara City in the Uganda Premier League encounter in Kamwenge on Friday.
Herbert Achayi smartly nodded into the net Joel Sserunjogi’s well-curved corner kick in the 16th minute.
Ten minutes later, Muhammad Kanyike beat his marker before calmly placing the ball into the back of the net as Mbarara City levelled matters.
Filbert Obenchan nearly regained KCCA’s lead in the 26th minute but his effort went wide after being set up by Achayi.
Five minutes into the second half, Ivan Ahimbisibwe nodded the ball into the net thanks to Achayi’s well-weighted delivery into the area.
Mbarara City survived a howler as Wycliff Ahumuza’s back pass nearly got goalkeeper Aaron Icumar out of position in the 53rd minute.
Despite Mbarara City’s fight in the dying minutes, the Kasasiro Boys stood firm and tall to collect maximum points.
The victory takes KCCA to the top of the log with 17 points while Mbarara City lies 15th on the table with five points collected in eight games.
