A clinical first-half performance from the Heathens ensured that they booked a spot in the Uganda Cup final.

The Buffaloes registered the first points of the game through young scrumhalf Hussein Shein’s penalty. From then on, it was a yellow party as man of the match Joseph Oyet opened the scoring. First, he slotted in a penalty to get the game square, then he converted Nicholas Kato’s try to give the Heathens the lead, 10-03.

By the end of the first half, the game was already sealed by the Heathens. A Michael Amollo try was converted by Oyet once again, to give the Heathens a firm lead going into the break. Amollo soon turned villain, receiving a yellow card that turned out costly for the Heathens.

During that sin bin, substitute prop, Rodney Takan, scored a try for the Buffaloes, piling pressure on the Heathens. Both sides were soon down to 14 men as flyhalf Humphrey Ndahura was also sent to the naughty chair. For the second time in the game, a yellow card was punished, with Oyet crossing over the white wash for Heathens’ 3rd try of the game.

For the third time in the game, poor discipline was punished when Meddie Abdullah scored against a 14-man Heathens side, but it was a little too late. The game ended 22-13 for the Heathens, as they marched into the Uganda Cup final to face the Black Pirates.
