- Vipers 5-1 UPDF
Vipers SC returned to winning ways after securing the fifth victory of the ongoing 2025-26 Uganda Premier League tournament.
Vipers registered a dominant 5-1 victory against UPDF in the Uganda Premier League encounter at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday evening.
Allan Okello had a chance to give Vipers a lead under 10 minutes but he fired above the crossbar after being setup by Gusto Mulongo.
Four minutes later, Usama Arafat tested UPDF goalkeeper Abdul Kimera with a well-curved free kick but the custodian pushed it away.
Milton Karisa broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute with a simple tap in from close range. Usama Arafat whipped in a good delivery that was met by Mulongo who accidentally set up Karisa.
Mulongo doubled Vipers’ lead in the 37th minute who smartly slotted home in a keeper-to-beat situation. The forward was set up by Okello with a defence-splitting pass.
With a minute to end the first stanza, UPDF pulled back one through Samuel Ssekamatte in a spectacular freekick effort.
At the top of the first half, Mulongo limped highest to nod home Usama’s delivery into the goal area.
Five minutes into the second half, Robin Kane Hney extended the hosts lead with a stunning strike from distance thus leaving goalkeeper Kimera stranded.
Moses Waiswa scored an easy goal after his chilly effort went in-between the legs of goalkeeper Kimera. It was an early christmas gift for Waiswa by the custodian.
The Kitende-based side returns to action on Friday as they play NEC at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Friday, December 5.
The victory takes Vipers in the third position on the log with 16 points in six games while UPDF lie 14th with six points in eight games.
