Lugazi and Police played to a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe on Wednesday.
In the 26th minute, Police’s custodian Mathias Muwanga made a big save to deny Freedom Mungdit in a one-on-one situation.
Ten minutes later, Abdul Kalanzi broke the deadlock with a delightful finish after being set up by Mungdit.
From that point onwards, the Police took charge of the game, but Lugazi held on to take the narrow lead into the halftime break.
Lugazi goalkeeper Juma Mutebi made a timely save to deny Lawrence Tezikya from close range in the early minutes of the second half.
Emmanuel Mugume fired home as Police levelled matters in the 65th minute thanks to the Cops’ improvement in the second half.
Second half substitute Mugume asked Lugazi’s backline several questions as they struggled to respond.
After picking a point on the road, Police lie third on the log with 18 points while Lugazi sits 13th with 10 points, having played 10 games.
