Bashir “Bastu” Ssemuyaba has tendered his resignation as head coach of FUFA Big League entity Kaaro Karungi Football Club.
The shocking decision comes barely two months after the CAF “B” certified coach was appointed to the role.
In a letter addressed to the team manager, Ssemuyaba cites the unprofessional conduct that barred him from exercising his role as coach in line with the ethics and principles of coaching.
“I am writing to notify you that I am resigning….” he wrote. “I decided to move on in order to practice my coaching assignment professionally. The situation in the team cannot favour my ethics and principles as a trained coach,” the letter added.
“Thank you for the opportunities and support during my time here. I appreciate the experience I have gained and wish the team continued success. Kaaro Karungi will remain home regardless,” he lauded.
Ssemuyaba has previously been head coach at Kiyinda Boys, first assistant at NEC during the second division days, assistant at the same club during the Uganda Premier League (to Hussien Mbalangu), and was also assistant coach to Charles Livingstone Mbabazi at Mbarara City and also head coach for the Buganda Region Province team in 2024.
It remains to be known who will remain as head coach at such a time when the league’s first round is about to climax.
