The annual Soroti Cricket Carnival got a new twist with the introduction of a Charity Run dedicated to raising awareness about some of the societal issues that are prevalent in the Soroti community.
One of the key issues highlighted was the gender based violence that greatly affects the communities from which the cricketers come.
The Charity Run was the first activity of the day, with runners engaged in the 5km, 10km and 21km runs through Soroti town. The kits for the runs cost 30k, and all proceeds from the run will go towards supporting the activities of the academy next year.

The other activities of the day included games between the Soroti Chairman’s XI playing against a visiting team from Kampala that included former Cricket Cranes Captain Brian Masaba.
The ladies’ game involved players who are former alumni of Soroti Cricket Academy and now feature for the Victoria Pearls.
The Soroti Cricket Academy was celebrating eleven years of building dreams as they continue to use Sports as an avenue of elevating vulnerable people in Soroti and the surrounding areas.
