Vipers further underlined their position on top of the log after a convincing victory against Police.

Vipers secured a well-deserved 4-1 victory against Police in the Uganda Premier League encounter at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.

Brian Obedi was quick to take the ball off Ashraf Mandela’s foot in the third minute around the edge of the box but the end product was far from required.

Three minutes later, Enock Ssebagala tested Police’s goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga with a powerful effort but the custodian palmed it before the backline came to rescue.

Milton Karisa broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute with a tough effort after being set up by on-form Karim Watambala.

With four minutes to play, Watambala doubled Vipers’ lead with a verocious effort that hit the crossbar before dipping into the back of the net.

On the stroke of the opening stanza, Odili Chukwuma made it three with a well-composed header from close range.

Coming from the dressing rooms, Police pulled back one through Saidi Kyeyune whose low effort went through a forest of legs before finding the back of the net.

Usama Arafat came to the party in the 73rd minute with a powerful header after connecting with Yunus Sentamu’s brilliant cross.

The victory leaves them on top of the log with 33 points in 13 games while Police lie third with 27 points in 14 games.
