The 2026 Kateregga Memorial Schools and Institutions Table Tennis Championship commenced at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday, 27th February.

Entries for Primary Schools had over 120 players (83 girls and 49 boys) from the different schools.

There were 100 plus players in the Secondary Schools category (49 girls and 65 boys), as well as 54 players in the University Category (31 men and 23 ladies).

Nakasero Primary and Mbogo Junior lead the girls’ Group A and B, respectively, and so for the boys.

Noam Balyewunya, Ali Kaliga and Victor Mubanga won the respective games over Noble Juniors’ Shaban Soraj, Emmanuel Olaitel and Muhamad Kayemba respectively.

Mbogo Junior Primary School Girls’ team had Brenda Namukosa, Maureen Nantabua and Magrita Kalemba shining.

Kansanga Primary, Mbale City Kindegarten and Primary, Vine International, Kampala Quality, Royale Primary School, Nobles Junior School, GMS and St Catherine Junior School Sonde follow suit for the girls.

For boys (Primary section), Kansanga Primary, Mbale City Kindegarten and Primary, Nobles Junior School, Royale Primary School, St Catherine Junior School – Sonde and GMS followed.

Secondary Schools

Kibuli S.S led the Girls’ Group A, followed by Mbogo Mixed and Seroma Christian High School.

Parvin Judith Nangonzi, Patra Nasirumbi, Jemimah Nakawala and Janat Nantambi were outstanding for Kibuli S.S.

Group B has Mbogo High, Mbogo College, Nkoma S.S and Maryhill High School in that order.

Judith Mirembe, Patricia Nabwire and Judith Kalabila impressed immensely for Mbogo High School team.

For the boys, it is Kibuli S.S, Nkoma S.S, Namilyango College and Kinaawa High School, respectively, in Group A.

Group B boys has Seroma Christian High School, Ubuntu Hill School, Mbogo College, Namagabi SS and Vine International.

Universities:

Kampala International University (KIU), Uganda Christian University (UCU), ISBAT, Kyambogo, MUBS and Makerere University were the entries for the universities (women).

After the opening games for the men, Uganda Christian University (UCU), Kampala International University (KIU), ISBAT, Kyambogo and Makerere University occupy the respective top 5 positions.

Tendo Kasoma, Max Wenka and Mark Ssentongo for UCU were in demolition mood winning with comfort 3-0 over Kyambogo University’s Emma Mugabi, Donald Ainemani and Mwesigwa Komonda, respectively.

Day two of the championship continues on Saturday, 28th February 2026 before the climax and closing ceremony on Sunday, 1st March 2026.

A number of partners have come together to rally with Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) to make the event a success.

Legacy Productions, School Pay and Ice Springs Drinking Water are some of the partners, among others.
