KCCA has enjoyed a good spell of form, winning four successive games on the bounce across all competitions. This fine form has not only brought relative relief to the coaches but also delight for the fans.
On a chilly Friday evening, the Citizens extended their good run with a 2-1 hard-fought win over Police at MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The fixture presented an opportunity for KCCA to revenge for the loss in the reverse fixture in Kamwokya where they lost 2-0.
In today’s game, Herbert Achayi gave KCCA the lead in the 16th minute with his powerful strike from a free kick ricocheting off the crossbar before finding its way beyond the line, despite the ball bouncing back into play.
A dominant start saw KCCA double their lead at the half hour mark through Saidi Mayanja who headed home from close range.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe made the donkey work before crossing the ball to the back post to meet Mayanja who dived to head into the back of the net. However, on TV replays, Mayanja seemed to have scored in an offside position.
Police pulled one back two minutes later through Lawrence Tezikya’s powerful strike inside the box.
Despite efforts and pressure from Police especially after the first half, KCCA remained firm and composed to secure all three points.
The result moved KCCA to third place on 39 points while Police dropped to sixth position on 32 points. The two teams will return to action next week with Police hosting SC Villa on 10th March 2026. A day later, will see KCCA visiting Express FC in the Kampala derby under the lights at Nakivubo Stadium.
