FUFA has on Monday added another competition to the domestic football pyramid. The Academies League is the latest addition and was launched by FUFA President Eng. Moses Hassim Magogo at the Kadiba stadium.
Magogo, while unveiling the new competition, indicated that this is a great step in nurturing and identifying young talented players who will be directed onto the right path.
“We recently launched the FUFA Technical Master Plan that looks at a player in four folds. Mass Football, where everyone is given a chance to play, Elite Football that looks at exposure of the talented players, Professional Football, which focuses on the top side of a player and Life After Football,” he started.
“Today, we launch the FUFA Academies League, which we believe will go a long way and identifying talents but also exposing them to organised competitions, which we have been missing.”

The pilot League will start with 20 academies coming from the regions of Buganda and Kampala, with the hope and projection of spreading it across the 8 regions of FUFA.
Academies from Buganda Region

Consequently, the FUFA Executive Committee has appointed the Tournament Organising Committee which will be headed by BUL Chairman Ronald Barente as Chairman, Roberts Kiwanuka as Vice Chairman, and Kigongo Farouk, Rodrick Muhumuza, former National team players Lwanga Ronald, Benjamin Ochan and Yasser Mugerwa as members.
Academies from Kampala Region

Each of the participating academies will receive 10 balls from FUFA.
The inaugural FUFA Academies League will begin on Sunday, 22nd March and only caters for players under the age of 15.

Buganda and Kampala regions? Is this madness. That’s the same region you’re talking g about.
What about those who are near to first team for example under 23.
Any league for them.
