Samuel Ssekamatte scored a brace as NEC secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory against Lugazi in a Uganda Premier League encounter at Lugazi Stadium on Friday.
The hosts started on the front foot testing NEC’s backline but the visitors stood tall and firm through the back to back tides.
In the 21st minute, Alfred Leku spotted an on-running midfielder Alvin Birungi and placed the ball in his path but the final delivery was lacking.
Off the bench, Ssekamatte broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with calm and composed finish giving the visiting fans a reason to jubilate.
In the 70th minute, Ssekamatte was tripped in the area and the center referee awarded the visitors a penalty.
The debutant stepped up to the occasion and confidently converted from the spot to double NEC’s lead.
The victory takes NEC to the seventh position with 30 points in 19 games while Lugazi lie 11th on the log with 18 points in 19 league games.
