Still unbeaten with two wins and as many draws, the Victoria Sharks shall temporarily host Kakira Simbas at Kyambogo University.

The Sharks have called Kyadondo home for the last three years, but due to the weather and pitch conditions, they won’t be able to host Kakira at the de facto home of Ugandan Rugby.

In a fixture that is thought to be a must-win for the university side, facing a newly promoted Kakira Simbas is a huge opportunity to climb up the log.

With the next game for the Sharks after this Saturday’s encounter being against Heathens, coach Kevin Ivan Makmot has prepared his troops to capture maximum points.

“We are expecting nothing less than a win on Saturday. We really need that win, and a bonus point as well. The boys are well prepared, we’ve had two good sessions for this game, and the boys are ready,” notes Makmot.

Despite playing out a commendable draw against the KOBs, then going on to underwhelmingly draw with the Walukuba Barbarians, Makmot insists that his team has started on a high note.

“We have started the season well, if you compare to how we started last season…with two losses against the Pirates and Hippos,” Makmot remarks.

The Sharks looked like a group of talented players bundled together last season. Still, with the strategic recruitment of players this season, the collective is starting to click, especially after that resounding victory against the Warriors.

“It’s not simply that we have come back to our winning ways, but the boys are playing well, bonding and playing together as a team. Every game we are bringing in a new young player to the team to play with the experienced players,” says Makmot.

Having a bloated squad comes with its pros and cons, but for Makmot, ‘making the best selections for the game’ will ensure that the Sharks walk away with the win.
