All signs are eminent that the incumbent president of Sports Club Villa Hajji Omar Ahmed “Mandela” Hussein will be retained as for the term 2026-2030.

This is after Hajji Omar was the only aspiring candidate to return the nomination forms as per the deadline day of Saturday, 7th March 2026; among the five people who picked them; expressing interest in the club’s supreme seat.

“By closure of the submission deadline (7th March 2026), only one candidate Mr Omar Ahmed Hussein (110-2025-V179726) returned and submitted duly completed nomination forms and fulfilled all the required conditions. In linee with the Sports Club Villa electoral guidelines, the Electoral Commission has forwarded Mr. Omar’s name and accompanying documents for vetting and further processing” Sports Club Villa Electoral Commission Chairman Brian Kajubi revealed in a public statement.

During the nomination window, five people had picked up the forms; Mr Meywa Farouq (110-2026-V550617), Mr Omar Ahmed Hussein (110-2025-V170726), Mr Mbidde Dennis Ssebuggwawo (110-2026-V812014), Mr Bulezi Simeon Kawuma (110-2026-V812014) and Mr. Joseph Muguluma Mbazzi (110-2025-V130463).

According to the SC Villa Electoral Commission chairperson, Mr Muguluma had picked the forms through an agent from the club secretariat.

After the vetting process by the SC Villa Trustees, the successful candidate will be declared by 10th March 2026 with the registration of fans exercise expected to be completed on the 15th March 2026.

Meanwhile, earlier on Saturday, three people Muguluma, Meywa and Mbidde had sought for the intervention of Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), citing the very high nomination fee of Ug.Shs 100,000,000 per candidate (non-refundable).

On Friday, 6th March 2026, a group of fans, many of whom donned the club’s jerseys carried placards to the FUFA House, in a peaceful demonstration against unfair electoral process.

About 15 of these fans were arrested by the Police after firing tear gas to disperse them.

The elective congress is expected to be held on 22nd March 2026.

Omar has been president of Sports Club Villa since November 2021 todate.

For starters, Sports Club Villa was founded in 1975 and has won the most Uganda Premier League titles, 17.

The Jogoos have also won nine Uganda Cup titles and three CECAFA Club championships.

The club commands a sizable number of fans in the country and in the diaspora.
