- Express 4-0 Red Devo
Express Football Club completed the last eight teams standing in this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Christened as the Red Eagles, Express humiliated Amolatar District’s Red Devo 4-0 during the last game of the Round of 16 stage played at Hamz Stadium.
Kenneth Kimera came off the bench to score a brace with Henry Wamala, and another substitute, Herbert Assimwe, also scoring a goal apiece.
Henry Wamala buried Blanchar Mulamba’s low delivery to give the hosts the lead on 38 minutes.
Kimera, a January acquisition from Vipers (on loan), then scored two goals under two minutes in the 88th and 89th minutes before Assimwe’s icing on the cake in the first minute of added time.
Express now joins holders Vipers, KCCA, URA, Kitara, Happy Boys Kagaba, NEC and Sports Club Villa at the quarterfinal stage.
URA eliminated Ngora District’s Tapoh FC 3-0 during the early kick-off on Friday at Hamz Stadium.
Olimi Bitanywaine Nyarwa, skipper Moses Aliro Okabo and substitute Godfrey Ssekibengo scored URA’s goals.
The draw for the clubs at the quarterfinal stage will be held in the coming days, under the supervision of the FUFA Competition Department.
The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup earns the ticket to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.
