Kumi University players celebrate a goal against IUIU during the group stages

YMCA Comprehensive makes the long trip to North East region to face Kumi University on Sunday, 29th March 2026 during the first leg of the quarterfinals for the 2026-2026 Pepsi University Football League.

The organizing committee for this interesting league made the confirmation after a period of uncertainty where Nkumba University had filed a petition.

With all done and said, it was confirmed that YMCA Comprehensive made the quarter final grade with the visit leg of the quarterfinals in Kumi ahead of next week’s return leg in Buwambo.

A lot to play for prior return legs:

Already three first legs of the quarter finals have been played. It remains a close contest for all the six universities that are due to face off in the return legs.

Ndejje University will host St Lawrence University during the return leg at their main campus sports Arena in Luweero.

St Lawrence University won the opener 2-1 at Kavule stadium with Ronnie Ziraba and Sharafah Mukiiibi scoring for Davis Ssozi Nnono’s coached side.

Davis Musinguzi got the consolation for Ndejje University, a strike that keeps this contest much alive.

Similarly; the cup holders Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi carries a slim 2-1 win to Masaka as they face Muteesa Royal 1 University.

Richard Lagu and Allan Odong scored in either half for Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi.

Ali Lutwama got a stoppage minute penalty for the consolation of the visitors to give them hope prior to the return in Masaka city.

At the FUFA Kadiba stadium in Mengo, Kampala University (KU) will play host to Bugema University in the return leg after the first match in Bugema ended 1 goal apiece.

The successful four universities will march for the semi-finals (two legged) ahead of the explosive grand finale.

The Pepsi University Football League is organized by Red Rhino Group, funded by Crown Beverages Limited under the Pepsi brand.

Over the years, this league has garnered popularity for the ability to give talented university students a viable platform to showcase and nurture their football talents through a competitive environment.

In the same vein, a number of coaches, administrators, media personalities and passionate fans have been groomed through this league.

It is played by players below the age of 26 years and they have to be active enrolled students at the different universities in the box.
