Uganda Senior Women’s Football National Team, the Crested Cranes have learned their pathway to the 2028 Olympics.
Thr draw for the Women’s Preliminary Competition Olympic Football Tournaments – African Qualifiers were conducted on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt.
Uganda will face Zambia at the second preliminary round with the Crested Cranes hosting the first leg.
The games will be played between 5th – 13th October 2026 and the winner on aggregate will face Mauritius/ Djibouti or Ghana in the third round.
Uganda has previously faced Zambia twice and won the two games. The first encounter came at the 2018 COSAFA Championship where Uganda won 1-0 courtesy of Tracy Akiror’s goal.
The other encounter came as a build up game before the 2022 Women’s Africa Women Cup of Nations and Uganda won 5-0..
It should be noted that Zambia has been to the previous two editions of the Olympics and Africa has only two slots.
