KCCA host Vipers at MTN Omondi stadium Lugogo on Wednesday aware that nothing but maximum points will keep them in the title race talk this season.

The clash of titans, like Brian Ssenyondo stated in his pre-match talk could decide the Kasasiro’s season.

With that said, here are the key battles that we believe could be pivotal in determining the outcome of the game at Lugogo.

Saidi Mayanja vs. Taddeo Lwanga

While Said Mayanja divides opinion in KCCA’s midfield, his influence on the Kasasiro game is undeniable. The diminutive midfielder has scored important goals and set them up as well and when he’s on the pitch, he constantly gets on the ball and looks to progress it into dangerous areas.

He will come up against Taddeo Lwanga in Vipers’ defensive midfield, a player that has regained his mojo as the season wanes on and conducts the game in the middle of the park with aggressiveness, attitude and character in top notch.

However, if Mayanja is on it, popping up in the half-spaces, then Lwanga will have to be more concerned with what the KCCA no.4 is doing, rather than setting the tempo with his own game.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe vs. Hilary Mukundane and Baddy Dasylva

Vipers should mostly be capable of negating KCCA’s attacking threat that ranks 3rd on the goal scoring column on the table.

While KCCA boast an array of talented attacking players, the Venoms have one of the best defences in the league and have dealt with much more intimidating frontlines.

However, the hosts have one player in his ranks of genuine quality, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, the leading goal scorer.

Ahimbisibwe is an outstanding player who can cause any team in the league issues.

His elusive movement, relentless pressing and exceptional technical quality makes him a real threat. It’ll be up to Hilary Mukundane and Bady Dasylva Vipers’ most in-form defenders, to deal with Ahimbisibwe’s dynamic attacking instincts.

Joel Sserunjogi and Brian Jjara vs. Karim Watambala & Enock Ssebagala

This is where the game could surely be won with each side having central midfielders that have the ability to impact the game.

KCCA’s double pivot of Sserunjogi and Jjara have a combination of athleticism, game intelligence and character and that can also be said of their opposites in Watambala and Ssebagala.

Both Jjara and Watambala are currently having the best season of their lives with the latter a candidate for the Premier League Player of the Season, this is the kind of game he was made for.

Watambala hasn’t quite been at his best in recent matches, but if he is going to show up, you’d expect it to be in Lugogo.
