Beyuku Munsi scores for Vipers

Vipers forced a draw late in the game against KCCA to remain in charge of the title race in a thrilling encounter at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.

Second half substitute Glod Beyuku Munsi scored in the 88th minute to cancel out a first penalty strike from Ivan Ahimbisibwe.

The visitors started brightly and had a goal illegitimately cancelled early but it was the Kasasiro that drew first blood to take a lead before halftime.

Ismael Kiyonga rates Vipers’ player on the day at Lugogo

Denis Kiggundu 6.5: Commanded his area and backline decisively but helpless for the penalty despite going the right way.

Ashraf Mandela 4.0: Kept penned back by the dangerous Nana and lost his man on several occasions. A tough evening for the Venoms right back.

Enock Luyima N/a: Withdrawn early on with an injury. Replaced by Ndahiro.

Kevin Bady Dasylva 3.5: Clumsily gave away a penalty in the first half and looked poor on the day. Subbed off at halftime

Hilary Mukundane 6.0: Sold under pressure and timed his clearances and tackles neatly.

Taddeo Lwanga 6.5: He was a key cog in the Vipers’ midfield especially after the withdraw of Enock Ssebagala. He was shockingly the calming effect on the Venoms as the game progressed. Lucky to escape a second book for a foul on Mayanja.

Karim Watambala 7.0: Thrived in the intense atmosphere and was everywhere on the pitch. Assisted Beyuku with a defence splitting pass.

Enock Ssebagala 6.0: Denied what appeared a legit goal by the offside flag in the first half before he came off at halftime.

Milton Karisa 5.0: Showed good industry throughout the game but kept much quieter in the second half as he had no spaces to run behind the KCCA backline.

Yunus Ssentamu 6.0: Had some nice touches early in the game as he took on Lazaro down the left but waned as the game went on. Replaced later.

Chukwuma Odili 5.0: Had a goal rightly ruled out for offside. Struggled to get past makeshift left back Gavin Kizito and replaced by Mulongo after recess.

Substitution

Derrick Ndahiro 6.0: Beaten by the pace of Ssebaduka on several occasions in the first half but improved after the break.

Rogers Torach 6.0: Calm under pressure after he came on Dasylva and often wanted to play from the back.

Gusto Mulongo 6.0: Kept the two KCCA centre backs under pressure when he came on.

Usama Arafat 6.0: Started quietly when he came on as a 10 but got better when he got into his favourite wing position.

Glod Beyuku Munsi 7.0: Won a point for Vipers. Decent run, brilliant first touch and fierce shot in the roof of the net.

Coach Jacky Ivan Minnaert 7.0: Brave enough to make changes. First, taking off Dasylva settled the defence and all his other changes were attack minded and he got the rewards.
