Mbarara City made a big move away from the relegation danger after earning a hard-fought 1-0 win over Lugazi on Wednesday.

The two teams faced off in a relegation six-pointer with just four games to the end of the season. Therefore, both teams needed a positive result to brightened their survival chances.

It was Mbarara City that claimed all the three points with Clinton Kamugisha scoring the all-important goal in the 52nd minute.

Kamugisha has been in fine form recently, scoring four goals in as many games. He scored a brace in the 2-2 draw against Maroons, a goal in the 2-1 win over Express and today against Lugazi.

With back to back wins (against Express and Lugazi) Mbarara is now 12th on the table on 23 points, seven ahead of the drop relegation zone with three games to go.

Lugazi who are also still involved in the relegation dog-fight now occupy 13th place with the same number of points as Mbarara City.
