Buffaloes have had a stellar season, improving from last year’s 5th-place finish to securing a Top 4 slot this term.

After enjoying three game weeks at the top of the table, the Buffaloes find themselves in 3rd, with an opportunity to go second should they beat KOBs to close the regular season.

However, things could still get worse should the Heathens win with a bonus point against Mongers, and the Buffaloes fail to pick up any point. This would put the Buffaloes level on points with the Heathens, but with an inferior points difference, hence dropping to fourth.

The KOBs have similarly had an above-average season, with a painful loss to the Black Pirates and an uncharacteristic draw with the Victoria Sharks. This encounter with Buffaloes is an opportunity to finish the regular season with a bang, and they plan to do so with the strong squad they have named.

Three-time man of the match recipient, Brian Wandera, has once again been named in the starting line-up for the KOBs. His ball-carrying abilities and defensive play are something that is going to give the Buffaloes a headache.

With Derrick ‘Mukiga’ Tukwasibwe making up the lock pairing, that essentially means that the KOBs are going to be playing with five loose-forwards on the pitch; that’s not to mention Andrew Odhiambo, who starts at 12.

The Buffaloes are going to be banking on their backs to produce the goods once again. Flyhalf Yasin Waiswa returns to the starting team, while his captain, Daniels Otim, starts on the bench.

Promising scrumhalf Hussein Shein starts again, while Humphrey Ndahura joins Kennedy Muhumuza in the midfield to form a new center pairing from last weekend against Victoria Sharks.

Should both teams decide to play an open, free-flowing game, then the fans are in for a treat.

The halfback pairings on both sides are tried and tested, while the outside backs are some of the proven finishers in the league, with rising stars like Hector Twinomugisha and Rasul Abiriga going toe to toe on the wing.
