The Uganda Premier League takes center stage at Kira Road Police Arena as Police FC prepares to host log leaders Vipers SC.
While the Venoms arrive with the momentum of an impressive unbeaten run on the field of play the Cops are fueled by a mix of revenge and a top-five ambition.
The narrative of this fixture is rooted in a stinging 4-1 defeat Police suffered during the first round at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
However, speaking ahead of the encounter, Police assistant coach Ahmed Olima made it clear that his side is looking forward, not backward.
For Police FC, the stakes extend beyond just three points. The club is locked in a battle for a respectable league position, and a result against a giant like Vipers would be a massive statement of intent.
”We still want to finish in the top five. We are chasing that and we have no pressure because what is important is that we are playing at home,” Olima stated confidently.
The 4-1 loss in the reverse fixture remains a fresh wound, but Olima believes the home advantage and the timing of the match favour the Cops.
He insists the team has spent time analyzing their previous mistakes to ensure a different outcome this time around.
Vipers SC has been a juggernaut lately, brushing aside several clubs in their path. Yet, Police FC sees themselves as the giant-killers capable of halting that momentum.
Olima was adamant that his squad has the tactical solutions to whatever Vipers bring to the pitch.”Yes they have gone past several clubs but we shall be so proud to end their unbeaten run because we have the potential to do that,” Olima added.
With the Cops looking to settle a score and the Venoms looking to maintain their grip on the top of the table, fans can expect a tactical battle where pride and points are equally on the line.
