The roar of motorcycle engines is set to become the latest sound of Ugandan diplomacy.

The Uganda Bikers Association (UBA), in a landmark partnership with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), has officially launched a high-octane promotional tour across Europe aimed at positioning Uganda as Africa’s premier adventure destination.

Starting June 22nd, thirteen elite riders will embark on a 1,000-kilometer trek through six European nations. Riding under the iconic Explore Uganda banner, the team will serve as grassroots ambassadors, trading traditional trade fair stalls for the open road to engage directly with international travelers.

The expedition is designed as a high-visibility disruptor in the European tourism market. The riders will traverse a grueling yet scenic route over six days, covering: Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

The tour is scheduled to run from June 22nd to July 3rd, 2026, marking a strategic window to capture the attention of European holidaymakers during the peak summer season.

For the Uganda Bikers Association, this journey is about more than just the love of the ride, it is a mission of national pride.

“We look forward to sharing the good message with the natives so that they can visit the beautiful country of Uganda,” said Angella Ssemukutu, Chairperson of the UBA.

“There is a lot to love about the country, from the food and weather to our culture. We are riders, and we shall use our bikes to share that message.”

The initiative represents a shift toward adventure diplomacy, using the universal appeal of biking culture to spark conversations about Uganda’s hidden gems.

The partnership marks a departure from conventional destination marketing. While UTB has historically relied on roadshows and digital campaigns, this collaboration puts a human and adventurous face on the Explore Uganda brand.

Juliana Jagwa, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board, highlighted the significance of the team’s composition and the innovative nature of the project.

“We have done a lot of roadshows, but this will be the first of its kind going to such a space with riders,” Jagwa noted.

“I am excited because I can’t wait to see how a team led by women will help to disrupt the European space.”

By targeting the heart of Europe including Switzerland and Germany, which are key markets for high-spend adventure tourists UTB hopes to see a direct impact on arrival numbers for 2026/2027.

As the thirteen ambassadors prepare to set off in less than two weeks, the message is clear, Uganda is no longer just waiting for visitors; it is riding out to meet them.
