2025 USSSA National Boys Football Championship:

  • Bukedea Comprehensive School South 0-1 Amus College School

Third Place:

  • St Mary’s Kitende 3-0 Kyadondo SS Matugga

It was history in the making for Amus College School in Lira City, Northern Uganda, as they lifted their first-ever USSSA national boys’ football trophy.

Before hundreds of fans at the Lira Town College playground, Amus College School edged fellow Teso region comrades, Bukedea Comprehensive School South 1-0 in a well-contested duel.

John Brian Otim was the hero with a fierce free kick in the opening half, past the goalkeeper, Anthony Kantangalo, in the rain.

From then on, the tactics for Amus College School shifted to a defensive strategy.

Bukedea Comprehensive School South returned a far better side with countless raids to the opposition under a different weather format, the blazing sun.

Simon Wanyama, Patrick Senkusu, captain Denis Ssewagudde and diminutive left back Ryan Giggs Osinya all had attempts, but Amus College remained rock solid.

Amus College School goalkeeper Usama Chagamo, defender Patrick Neri Wobuteya and skipperJamil Iddi Rashid were disciplined, calm and at times ruthless with the mind-game component at play.

The final whistle from FIFA Referee Dick Okello was received by wild celebrations from the Amus College players, officials and fans.

In the third-place playoff, St Mary’s Kitende overcame fellow Wakiso region representatives Kyadondo SS. Matugga 3-0 to take bronze.

The four semifinalists: Amus College School (champions), Bukedea Comprehensive South, St Mary’s Kitende and Kyadondo SS Matugga booked their berths for the upcoming FEASSA Games in Morogoro, Tanzania between 12th to 22 August 2026.

In the same vein, these four schools will also play at the ISF World Cup due in China in October 2026.

Over 1200 students from 64 schools took part in the ten-day championship that has been played since 1986.

I commend the local organizing committee and national organizing committee for organizing a great championship. We have made a great leap to tame age cheating. USSSA reaffirms commitment to mass-sports, infrastructure development and wholestic development of students.
